Medicare Wellness Visit and Its Arrangement

Medicare Wellness visit is an annual incentive that provides wellness care. Wellness care is preventive services that may reduce the risk of sickness or injuries.

The word “physical” describes wellness care, but your wellness visit is not a conventional, head-to-toe physical. Instead, it is a moment when your doctor to assess your health risks and figures out the solution to address your troubles. The goal is to make you live a healthy life, and there are several reasons to schedule a wellness visit.

Medicare Part B provides coverage for wellness visits. Every 12 months, you can attend one Wellness Visit. You may have to bear the cost if your physician recommends or does extra services during the visit.

You will also have the same benefits as Medicare Part B if you are a Medicare Advantage Plan holder. It is smart to review the plan material to see if additional health benefits are included in it.

Importance of Medicare Wellness Visit

The more planned and organized you are going in, the more time you and your doctor will have to examine your health. It is a wise decision to assemble the following to take with you to your visit:

• You should place the bottles in a bag and take them with you; all the drugs you take (prescription and non – prescription, vitamins, supplements, and herbal products).
• A directory of all health providers, with names and contact details you see.
• Your completed health history form and health risk report if your doctor sent it to you before the visit.
• A list of queries you would like to talk with your doctor.

Things That Might Happen On Your Medicare Wellness Visit

A paramedic may do some of the initial tests before your doctor examines you. At your appointment, your physician or other staff will:

• Evaluate your medical history and assessment of your health risk
• Establish or revise a list of the current providers and prescriptions
• Measure your height, weight, blood pressure, and other routine measurements
• Evaluation for depression and other mental health issues
• Assess your physical fitness status and any safety issues
• Give your health advice.
• Provide you with a list of risk factors and recovery plans
• Give you a schedule for any extra necessary healthcare services and screenings.

You will establish a personalized health plan along with your doctor. Make sure you have a duplicate of the plan.

If your doctor recommends extra health assessments or tests, make sure that you consider how much they are covered before you have them. Often, you may require a doctor’s official referral letter on such programs to be covered.

A wellness visit is not to discuss new or current health concerns. You can ask for any problems, but there may be a service charge if addressed during the visit. For any extra help, you may need to make a separate appointment.
